Kamenetz Announces New Visitor Outreach Initiative

Towson, Md  (December 16, 2010) – Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz today announced new opportunities to explore and enjoy Baltimore County’s attractions, events, lodging, and dining options with a new visitor outreach initiative. He also released the most recent economic impact data for tourism in the County.

“Tourism is a vital industry for Baltimore County – visitor spending in 2009 totaled $1.85 billion,” said County Executive Kamenetz quoting recently released data from IHS Global Insight, a leading international economic research and analysis firm. “Our revitalized conference and tourism initiative, along with the breadth and diversity of our attractions, will only increase this sector’s impact.”

County Executive Kamenetz also revealed a new Visitor Outreach initiative including a visitor guide, web site, and social media. The new visitor guide highlights Baltimore County’s waterfront access, steeplechase community, the arts, wineries, outdoor recreation, and historical connections. The guide also provides a shopping, lodging, and dining directory. The Visitor Guide will be distributed to more than 150 locations, including hotels, restaurants, attractions, public libraries, senior centers; and at events and festivals. The guide will also be available at the Baltimore County Visitor Center (44 W. Chesapeake Ave., Towson) and other visitor centers throughout the State.

"We are meeting our visitors and residents where they are,” said conference and tourism director Jill Feinberg.  “In addition to picking up a visitor guide, we invite visitors to find us on Facebook – Baltimore County Tourism – or on line at www.enjoybaltimorecounty.com.”
