Towson, Md (July 26, 2010) – As summer temperatures continue to rise, visitors and residents do not have go far to stay cool. With more than 175 miles of shoreline, waterfront restaurants, 90 marinas and yacht clubs, beaches, reservoirs, and rivers, Baltimore County is the gateway to the Chesapeake Bay.
“Many people just don’t realize how many wonderful waterfront resources we have in Baltimore County,” said County Executive Jim Smith. “I encourage residents and visitors to enjoy summertime at Baltimore County beaches, nature centers, waterfront parks, and dining.”
Jill Feinberg, Baltimore County’s Tourism Director, added, “There are so many affordable ways to enjoy the water as part of our summer ‘Free Family Fun’ promotion. Enjoy a river crawl on the Middle River Water Taxi, check out ‘stand-up paddleboarding’ at Ultimate Watersports, go tubing on the Gunpowder River, enjoy steamed crabs at a waterfront restaurant with live music, take sailboat lessons at the Baltimore County Sailing Center, golf at the Rocky Point Golf Course, or go fishing at the Loch Raven Fishing Center. It’s all right here and within easy driving distance.”
Free Family Fun continues all summer and the event guide can be found at Baltimore County libraries, parks, chambers of commerce, and the Baltimore County Visitor Center.
