Towson, Md (June 22, 2010) – Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith today announced the launch of “Free Family Fun,” a promotion that includes more than 200 free and nearly-free events, attractions, and activities for residents and visitors over the summer.
“Many people just don’t realize how many wonderful events, parks, and attractions there are to visit in Baltimore County,” said County Executive Jim Smith. “I encourage residents and visitors to enjoy summertime at Baltimore County beaches, waterfront restaurants, outdoor festivals and concert series.”
Jill Feinberg, Baltimore County’s Tourism Director, added, “It’s all right here, within easy driving distance. Start your summer at the World Soccer Festival in Towson and end your summer at the Maryland State Fair in Timonium. And in between, check out Good Life Thursdays at Boordy Vineyards, Juneteenth at the Hampton National Historic Site, and Summer Concerts at the Lurman Woodland Theatre in Catonsville.”
Free Family Fun runs all summer and the event guide can be found at Baltimore County libraries, parks, chambers of commerce, and the Baltimore County Visitor Center. Visitors can also keep up-to-date on Free Family Fun events by becoming a fan of “Baltimore County Free Family Fun” on Facebook or by visiting the calendar of events at www.visitbacomd.com.
“Summer is a great time to experience Baltimore County’s waterfront at its best, as well as enjoy the beautiful parks, interesting attractions and festive events all around our county, ” said County Council Chairman John Olszewski, Sr.
