Towson, Md (September 8, 2010) – Middle River residents and boaters from around the region have long known that Middle River offers beautiful views, friendly people and great waterfront attractions. Now television viewers from New York to Florida will get glimpses of the Middle River area in the latest round of ads produced for Yuengling Lager and Light Lager.
This afternoon, Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith and the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce hosted a special event to unveil the new ads and promote the county’s eastern waterfront as an attractive destination for waterfront dining, parks, boating and water sports. The “world premiere” of the ads took place at Long Beach Restaurant and Tavern, a popular nautical-themed establishment that was featured in an ad that begins airing this week with the start of the NFL season. Another ad, to begin airing in January, was filmed at Bengie’s Drive-In Theater, a longtime area favorite.
“We’ve always known that Middle River is a wonderful waterfront community with plenty to offer in terms of restaurants, marinas, waterfront parks and activities,” said Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith. “Now the secret is out and we welcome everyone to take just a short drive to come down and enjoy the water.”
Yuengling selected Middle River as the filming location for their new television advertising campaign because of its natural beauty and proximity to the brewery’s headquarters in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
“We had a lot of options when it came to finding a place to shoot our new TV spots, but Middle River was definitely at the top of the list,” said Yuengling Marketing Manager Lou Romano. “There are a lot of visually appealing locations here and Yuengling's sales reps have been working with folks in the Middle River community for many years, so it's an area we're very familiar with. All in all, it was an ideal location for us to work in.”
“Baltimore County’s eastside is a very up-and-coming area in terms of recreation and tourism and being highlighted as part of a major television ad campaign only helps to reinforce the area’s attractiveness,” said Baltimore County Tourism Director Jill Feinberg.
“The Middle River area offers exceptionally good access to the water whether you enjoy boating, fishing, waterfront restaurants or just soaking up the view,” said 6th District Councilman Joe Bartenfelder. “I invite people from the whole region to come down and see for themselves.”
