The Henrietta Lacks Legacy Group (HLLG) is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization that exists to protect, preserve, and promote the legacy of Henrietta Lacks and her contributions to modern medicine through advocacy, health equity initiatives, and education. It also exists  to support activities that extend Lacks’ legacy and historic Turner Station, Maryland, where Lacks resided at the time of her death.  Among other activities, HLLG sponsors:

  • The Annual Luncheon (October)
  • The nation-wide Henrietta Lacks Annual Essay and Video Competition (December)
  • Sponsors the Annual African American Steel Workers Commemorative Program (April)
  • Sponsors tours and cruise excursions
